With the ultimate goal of providing personalized care for the unique individual, and with a love of growing and learning in his field and beyond, Dr. Reza is now certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). The McKenzie Method is one form of MDT treatment that is currently available to Reza Chiropractic patients.

The History of The McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method was developed in the late 1950s by Robin McKenzie, a physiotherapist based in New Zealand. Robin worked for more than 40 years in perfecting the McKenzie Method of MDT so that today, patients of this treatment can gain valuable knowledge and guidance from a reliable Certified McKenzie Provider such as Dr. Reza Ghassemi.

The McKenzie Method continues to be heavily studied for its effectiveness in identifying, assessing, and treating musculoskeletal pain through a conservative approach that empowers the patient.

How Does Dr. Reza Treat Patients Using the McKenzie Method?

As with all other treatments, methods, and therapies that Dr. Reza uses on his patients, he will start by performing a response-based assessment on your condition, as well as ask you questions about your symptoms and health history. After, Reza will guide you through specific movements to further understand how your body mechanics are operating so he can propose a treatment plan that’s just right for you.

If he recommends the McKenzie Method as part of your treatment, Dr. Reza will patiently walk you through specific exercises you can do from home, although he may advise that you continue to see him in-office until you can self-manage. The ultimate goal is to arm you with the knowledge you need to improve your condition.

The McKenzie Method Certification Process

Dr. Reza pursued certification in this method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy to provide another way to treat patients.

Certification is open to healthcare providers who have the appropriate education and experience in musculoskeletal conditions and who is able to evaluate and treat patients for related conditions. The McKenzie Method of MDT is a post-graduate training program of basic and advanced courses and a competency exam. As part of being certified, providers are required to attend training events once every three years. This will allow providers to keep up-to-date with their skills and any changes in the field.

A well-rounded chiropractor who is skilled in multiple modalities and therapies, Dr. Reza has the knowledge and experience at his disposal to properly develop treatment plans based on your current situation and your health and wellness goals. Along with his education and diverse background of experiential credentials, Dr. Reza Ghassemi can help you meet your goals and feel relief of the pain you’re in.
